I wanted to specify that it works only with a C compiler like gcc and not with a C++ compiler like g ++. Apparently because --export-dynamic which doesnt support C++...

and I resolve with:
sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-pixbuf

But Now I have this:

Hello tadeboro: I liked your tutorial. I followed all the steps. I am having 1 problem.

The tut.glade, tut.c, and tut files are in the same folder. I successfully compiled the tut.c file then I executed the tut file and it showed this error:

(tut:19516): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_show: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

thank you for your tutorial. I'm wondering if you can help me with my project.

I’d like to develop a simple interphase for obenvibe by GTKbuilder. My interface is simply a 6x6 table and in each area there are a photo and a word. Or I can use 36 buttons that include images and words. I followed what you done here and add images but the images do not appear!

How can I do this with GTK builder? Do I need programming skills?? As I’m indeed not a programmer ^-^

How can I use different types of images? Not only .pgn? And can I use moving images or no?

on windows when i add another glade file when compiled program crashes. when i comment that another glade file program runs ok.
when i add another dialog box in 1st glade file (1st is top level window) after compiling program crashes. all of this is on winblowz....of course

Was trying to execute from a different partition.
Assuming there is some permissions that have to be applied to the entire mounted drive in order to allow execution

Just having a small problem at this point. I can compile without any errors but i do not have permission to run it somehow.
I am running Ubuntu 10.10. I have tried the following:

I have tried compiling the .c file as:
gcc -o tut tut.c $(pkg-config --cflags --libs gtk+-2.0 gmodule-2.0)
and
sudo gcc -o tut tut.c $(pkg-config --cflags --libs gtk+-2.0 gmodule-2.0)
Both work exactly the same (as would be expected i think)

Now when i try to exectue:
./tut gives -- bash: ./tut permission denied
sudo ./tut gives -- command not found
Exectuing from the file manager gives an error "could not display There is no application installed for executable files"

I right click on the file and properties>permissions and try to tick the "allow executing.." box but it does not let me.
I have tried
sudo chmod a+x tut
No effect

Im a bit stuck here :/
It is a fresh Ubuntu installation i have use update manager to get all the latest updates.
gtk2.0-dev is installed:
pkg-config --modversion gtk+-2.0 glib-2.0 pango cairo
2.22.0
2.26.0
1.28.1
1.10.0

but is there something else i have to do to execute files? Some kind of built in security that i haven't found yet?

Hi Tadej

So far my comment on not being able to resize or have my window decorated has not appeared. I have solved the problem and my solution *may* help someone else.

It seems the problem was somewhere in the Glade/GTK+ installation on my computer. I reinstalled everything to do with Glade and GTK and now all works as advertised. I am impressed!

I just found this tutorial and I am pretty impressed. I *think* I followed your instructions religiously, however I do not get any window decorations and I am not able to resize the window. I must have missed something but I can't seem to find out what. :o(
Resizable and decorated are both set to yes.

I am using Glade 3.6.7 and GTK+ catalogue 2.16 on Ubuntu 10.04. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
